Topic for Assignment Two

With many days passing so quickly I have finally decided on my report topic. I was thinking of writing a report of the use of Socratic Questioning to improve Critical literacy through the use of a weblog. Social constructivism has been the identified thoery of which I will make links to. The tool in this case to improve the critical literacry will be the weblog and the method of which I will help aid this tool will be socratic questioning.

Assignment Two

Assignment two has been a little tricky for me. I am undecided about the topic that I want to pursue. I am leaning towards sticking with my 1st assignment topic but I don't want to fall into the trap of repeating myself. Will need to find a topic soon!

Did you Know

The first time I saw this I had to share this with my class. They were amazed of the stats and egar to know what it was like know....I'm pretty sure some figues would of increased by now...hello Apple just can't stop reinventing the iphone?lol

Connectivisim

Siemens and Downes provide good points on the idea of Connectivism being a viable theory. However , I found it interesting where other authors discredited this theory due to it not fulfilling the specific requirements. Miller suggests that emerging theory needs to fall within the domanin of scientific research and scientific methods.

If this is the case, do we need to pay homage to this theory or put it aside like everything else?

Do the existing theories in practice cover the the idea of connectivism or Do we need a new theory to accomodate the vast movement around the ideas of knowledge learned and knowledge shared?

assignment one

This assignment one has definately opened my eyes to the way the internet has evolved over the years. I remember hearing about the internet as kid in school and thinking what's all the fuss about. The internet for me was a means to look for information. I recall sitting in my computer class at school and watching the teacher take us on a lesson on how to use the computer. Whilst that was taking place I noticed my friends seaching the web at the same time. I asked myself how did they know how to use it and what were to looking for. None of us knew about the real potentials of the net at that time or how it was best used. It was still in its developing stage but the fact of the matter was; that the internet was moving at a rapid pace. We were all hungry for information and information that was new and cutting edge! We no longer wanted information that was stagnant and in this case from books. Moving images, sound files seemed to be the ticket for our involvement..............particularly for boys.
